Comb Duck

Sarkidiornis sylvicola

The Comb Duck, also known as the Knob-billed Duck, is a large, distinctive waterfowl species found in tropical wetlands of sub-Saharan Africa, Madagascar, and South Asia. It is characterized by its unique knob on the bill, which is more prominent in males. This duck is highly gregarious and often forms large flocks. The Comb Duck feeds on aquatic plants, seeds, and small invertebrates, using its specialized bill to filter food from the water. While its population is currently stable, the species faces threats from habitat loss and hunting in some regions.
