Fairy Flycatcher, Stenostira scita, is a resident breeder in southern Africa, with its breeding range in Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho and Namibia. It is also recorded as a vagrant in Zimbabwe and Eswatini. This passerine belongs to the family Stenostiridae, the fairy flycatchers, and is the only species in the genus Stenostira. It breeds in karoo scrub and fynbos in the southern highlands, then moves north to pass the southern winter in thorn scrub at lower altitudes. It was described by Vieillot in 1818.
