Great Barbet

Psilopogon virens (Boddaert, 1783)

Great Barbet, Psilopogon virens, is an Asian barbet of the Oriental Region, breeding from north-west India to south-east China and Myanmar. It is a resident bird of the lower to middle Himalayan zone and other parts of south-east Asia. Its plumage is green, with a blue head, a large yellow bill, a brown body marked with green streaks, a belly and a red vent. It is the largest barbet species, measuring 32–35 cm and weighing 192–295 g.
