Strix nebulosa
The Great Grey Owl (Strix nebulosa) is a majestic and enigmatic bird of prey known for its large size and striking appearance. With a wingspan of up to 60 inches, it is one of the largest owls in the world. This species is characterized by its prominent facial disc, which aids in sound localization, and its cryptic gray plumage that provides excellent camouflage in its boreal forest habitat. Great Grey Owls are primarily crepuscular and nocturnal hunters, preying on small mammals such as voles and lemmings. They are known for their silent flight and keen hunting abilities. Despite their impressive size, these owls are remarkably agile and adept at maneuvering through dense forest environments.
