Hudsonian Whimbrel

Hudsonian Whimbrel Numenius hudsonicus is a migratory wader of the family Scolopacidae, breeding on low Arctic coastal and inland tundra in Alaska and Canada, including western, northern and central Alaska, far western and north-western Canada, and the south-west shore of Hudson Bay. In the non-breeding season it is found widely on temperate to tropical coasts across the Western Hemisphere, from California and the south-east coast of the USA through the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean and Mexico to Central America and the southern tip of South America, with records also from the Revillagigedo Islands and the Galápagos. It was described by Latham in 1790.
