About this tour

Visit wetland habitat near Saskatoon to scan for sandpipers, dowitchers, phalaropes, plovers and other shorebirds. American Avocets can occur through much of the warmer season, while the greatest migrant variety is concentrated in May, July and August.

The guide chooses sites according to current water levels and bird reports and provides a spotting scope for roadside viewing. Beginners and experienced birdwatchers are welcome, but changing migration and habitat conditions mean that no species is guaranteed.

Choose a three-hour route near the city or the recommended four-hour option, which reaches additional wetlands farther away. Both are easy self-drive tours with roadside stops, and many observations can be made without leaving the vehicle.
