Spatula puna
The Puna Teal, scientifically known as Spatula puna, is a small dabbling duck found in the high Andes of South America. It has a distinctive white patch on its face and a chestnut-colored body. These ducks prefer to inhabit high-altitude lakes, marshes, and wetlands, where they feed on aquatic plants, seeds, and small invertebrates. Puna Teals are known for their synchronized courtship displays and are often seen in pairs or small flocks. They are considered to be of least concern in terms of conservation status, as their populations are relatively stable and not currently facing significant threats.
