Sixteen-Day Northeast Brazil Endemics and Specialties Tour
Cross Ceará and Bahia over sixteen days, linking Caatinga, Atlantic Forest, Cerrado and campo rupestre for Northeast Brazil endemics.
About this tour
This broad Northeast Brazil expedition runs for approximately 3,500 kilometres from Fortaleza through Ceará and Bahia. It begins in the Baturité highlands, continues through Quixadá, Potengi and the Araripe region, and then reaches Canudos for the red-cliff country associated with Lear’s Macaw. The middle of the route explores Chapada Diamantina before turning south through Boa Nova and Serra Bonita.
The final section reaches lowland Atlantic Forest and mangroves around Porto Seguro and the Veracel Reserve. Across the trip, birders move among humid montane forest, Caatinga, Cerrado, campo rupestre and coastal forest. Possible specialties include Gray-breasted Parakeet, Araripe Manakin, Lear’s Macaw, Hooded Visorbearer, Sincorá Antwren, Bahia Spinetail and White-winged Cotinga. These species are search targets, not promises. The itinerary finishes in Porto Seguro; price, departures and the exact service package are available on request.
