Eagles and Vultures Photography in Bulgaria with NatureTravel
Photograph vultures and eagles from specialist Eastern Rhodope hides on a four-day, full-board trip with two hide days and local 4x4 access.
About this tour
This four-day, three-night programme is centred on raptor photography near Madzharovo in Bulgaria’s Eastern Rhodope Mountains. It is available year-round for two to six photographers and includes two dedicated hide days, allowing the group to work with changing light and activity rather than treating the visit as a single brief session.
Griffon and Egyptian Vultures are central subjects, with Golden Eagle most relevant in winter and vulture activity particularly important through spring and summer. White-tailed Eagle, Cinereous Vulture, Black Kite and other raptors may also appear. Feeding at the conservation station can bring birds close to the hide, but neither numbers nor photographic encounters can be promised.
Early starts are followed by a short off-road transfer and quiet entry into the hide. Shooting ports provide low, controlled viewpoints, while a small observation window helps photographers prepare for incoming birds. Winter heaters and a chemical toilet support longer sessions. Packed lunches, hot drinks, water and guide assistance are provided during the two hide days.
The confirmed price is EUR 1,070 per person. Single-room guest-house accommodation, full board, hide use, feeding fees, local 4x4 transport, guiding, all meals and airport transfers are included; alcoholic drinks are excluded. Flexible dates or a different duration require a separate proposal, and current availability is confirmed after inquiry.
Guides
Itinerary ▼
Transfer to the Madzharovo area, settle into the guest-house accommodation and take a short local walk if timing permits. The guide then covers hide behaviour, photography technique and the next morning’s off-road approach.
Start early, take the local 4x4 towards the feeding station and enter the hide quietly. Spend the day working with available light and activity for vultures, eagles and other wildlife, with packed food, hot drinks, water and guide support.
Return for a second hide day, using experience from the first session to prepare for flight shots, feeding interactions and changing raptor movement. Species and numbers depend on natural conditions; packed provisions and guide support are again included.
Check out after breakfast and take the included airport transfer. Any short final local observation depends on the agreed departure schedule and is confirmed in the final arrangements.
