Cinereous Vulture

Aegypius monachus

The Cinereous Vulture, also known as the Monk Vulture, is a large bird of prey found in southern Europe and Asia. It has a wingspan of up to 3 meters and is predominantly dark brown in color, with a featherless head and a powerful beak. This species is known for its impressive soaring abilities and is often found in mountainous regions and open landscapes. Cinereous Vultures are scavengers, feeding on carrion and playing a crucial role in the ecosystem by cleaning up decaying animal matter. Unfortunately, they are facing threats from habitat loss, poisoning, and collisions with power lines.
