20 Days Kenya Birding Tour
A 20-day comprehensive Kenya birding circuit from Nairobi and Maasai Mara through Rift Valley lakes, western forest, northern reserves, Tsavo and the coast.
About this tour
This 20-day Kenya circuit is bird-focused while also allowing time for wildlife, landscapes and photography. The route begins in Nairobi and Maasai Mara, follows Rift Valley lakes to Kakamega, crosses Nyeri and Shaba, then turns south through Swara Plains, Tsavo West and Taita to Arabuko–Sokoke and Mida Creek.
Habitats range from urban savanna, Mara grassland and freshwater lakes to Kakamega rainforest, northern lava country, acacia plains, montane Taita forest and coastal woodland. Boat trips on Naivasha and Baringo complement vehicle-based park birding and guided forest walks.
The itinerary includes several long transfers and mixes cool highlands with hot, dry lowlands. Tides, road conditions, park rules and flight timing can change the sequence, while every bird and mammal target remains a possibility rather than a promise.
