Spend a full day exploring the varied bird habitats within and around Windhoek with Colandri Reyneke, founder and guide at Wildfoot Adventure Safaris. The route is planned across artificial wetlands, acacia woodland, dry savanna, rocky slopes and ephemeral river corridors, giving visiting birders a useful introduction to the capital region’s contrasting communities.
The day starts at 7:00 am with pickup from the confirmed Windhoek accommodation. Colandri adjusts the sequence to current conditions and bird activity, using her knowledge of calls to help locate both visible and more secretive species. Regional targets can include Rockrunner and White-tailed Shrike, together with Monteiro’s and Damara Red-billed hornbills, Violet-eared Waxbill and Short-toed Rock Thrush. A broader mix of waxbills, shrikes and savanna birds adds variety. All sightings depend on natural conditions and are never guaranteed.
The day includes private transport with a professional guide and driver, park entry fees, drinking water and a light local lunch of kapana, vetkoek and salsa at Single Quarters in Katutura. The outing is scheduled for approximately ten hours and returns to Windhoek around 5:00 pm, with drop-off at the guest’s accommodation.

Pause for a light local lunch in Katutura, then continue birding before the return transfer and accommodation drop-off around 5:00 pm.
