This seven-day journey explores the Caribbean habitats of Bocas del Toro from a lodge on Isla Bastimentos. Forest trails, mangroves, coastal islands and boat-access sites create a varied route for birdwatching, with additional opportunities to observe frogs and other wildlife.
After a domestic flight from Panama City, the programme begins around the lodge and its forest trails and observation tower. Subsequent days use boats to reach the Soropta Canal, Swan’s Key, Aguacate, Isla Popa and Cayos Zapatilla. Birding focuses on Caribbean specialties and the changing communities of mainland forest, mangrove and offshore islands.
The published programme includes six nights, guiding, domestic flights, meals, park and private-estate entrance fees, and land and sea transport. Walking can involve mud and rain, while several days include boat travel. Named birds are search priorities rather than guaranteed sightings.
