About this tour

Spend a full day exploring the open steppe landscapes around Almodovar in a private 4x4. The morning and afternoon sessions are planned around the best available bird activity, with Great Bustard, Little Bustard and Spanish Imperial Eagle among the main priorities.

The route crosses farmland and savanna-like grasslands used by a broad selection of Alentejo birds. Depending on season and conditions, the day may also produce vultures, other eagles, Black-winged Kite, Iberian Magpie, shrikes, larks and bee-eaters. Sightings are never guaranteed, and the guide may adjust the birding area to improve the day's opportunities.

The standard program begins at 07:00, pauses for lunch around midday and returns to Almodovar at approximately 16:00. Lunch is served at the Birding Center or a local restaurant. This is a practical option for independent travelers who want one concentrated day of expert local birding without a multi-night package.
