Central Spain Birding: Steppes, Wetlands and Mountains
A three-day birding journey from Madrid through central Spain’s steppe, wetland, woodland and mountain habitats. Guiding, transport, accommodation and half board are included for parties of up to eight.
About this tour
Central Spain brings together open plains, wetland birds and wooded mountain country over three days. Starting at a meeting point in Madrid, Blue Nature’s regional journey covers birding areas associated with Madrid, Toledo, Ciudad Real and Ávila, with the mountain and woodland portion also extending to Segovia.
The Toledo and Ciudad Real areas provide the steppe and wetland component. Madrid and Segovia add forests and mountain ranges, creating a broader mix of habitats than a single day around the capital. The tour draws on the nature reserves and national parks of Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León as well as the Madrid region.
The birding possibilities include Spanish Imperial Eagle, Great Bustard, Little Bustard, Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Pin-tailed Sandgrouse and Greater Flamingo. European Roller, European Bee-eater, Common Hoopoe and Lesser Kestrel are also named for this route. Season and site conditions influence which species can be found; the list does not imply the same sightings on every departure.
The three-day format includes guiding, transport, accommodation and half board. Groups have a maximum of eight travelers. Per-person rates are €1,100 for one person, €650 for a party of two, €500 for three, and €425 for four to eight. Travel dates are requested individually, and the guide can alter the route when access, weather or bird activity changes while keeping its central Spain focus. Extra days or additional areas can be discussed according to your birding interests.
