Meet the Real Lanka Holidays representative at the airport and transfer about 30 minutes to Pamunugama. After time to settle in, take an afternoon boat safari through the Muthurajawela wetland and mangrove system.
Drive approximately four hours toward Deniyaya and accommodation near Sinharaja. A relaxed walk around the lodge and surrounding habitat introduces the lowland rainforest setting.
Explore Sinharaja early with the birding guide. Forest trails and edges are worked for endemic birds, mixed feeding flocks and other resident species.
Travel from the wet southwest toward the drier Kumana and Arugam Bay area. After check-in, use the remaining time to rest near the coast before the safari day.
Enter Kumana for a full-day safari through dry forest, lagoons, plains and mangrove habitat. Waterbirds, waders and dry-zone species are possible according to season and water levels.
Climb into Sri Lanka’s central highlands on a long scenic transfer. Settle in at Nuwara Eliya and take a gentle town walk or rest after arrival.
Begin with an early walk in Victoria Park for montane birds, then travel toward Kandy with planned scenery, tea-country and Ramboda Falls stops along the way.
Walk in Udawattakele’s wet evergreen forest and around its lake-edge habitat, then continue north toward the Wilpattu area for the night.
Start early with a packed breakfast and spend the day on safari in Wilpattu. Birding follows the dry forest, open areas and villu wetlands accessible from the park road network.
Travel to Anawilundawa and explore its freshwater tanks, bunds and adjoining forest. Seasonal breeding colonies and migrant waterbirds may be present, and a spotting scope is useful.
