This compact Uganda itinerary combines major birding and primate highlights: arrival in Entebbe, Mabamba Bay for Shoebill, Kibale Forest for chimpanzee tracking, Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drives and the Kazinga Channel, and Bwindi for mountain gorillas.

Itinerary ▼
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to the agreed hotel for rest and briefing.
Drive to Mabamba Bay for Shoebill birding and other wetland species such as African Marsh Harrier, Papyrus Gonolek, Lesser Jacana, African Jacana, Red-headed Lovebird, Swamp Flycatcher and Yellow-billed Duck, then continue toward Kibale.
Track chimpanzees and other primates in Kibale Forest, with interpretation of forest fauna and flora. Afternoon time is used for rest or additional local birding according to conditions.
Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park. If timing allows, take an afternoon game drive for savannah birds, lions, elephants, buffalo and other wildlife.
Use a morning game drive for lions, kob, topi and birding, then take an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel for hippos, elephants, waterbirds and other wildlife.
Continue through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, with a chance for tree-climbing lions, then travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Join a guided mountain gorilla tracking excursion in Bwindi, subject to permit availability and park regulations. Trekking duration varies with gorilla movements and forest conditions.
Return toward Entebbe or the airport, with an Equator stop and birding stops if flight timing allows.
