Agami Heron

Agamia agami

The Agami Heron is a striking bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. With its iridescent blue-green plumage, chestnut-colored head and neck, and long, slender bill, it is a sight to behold. This heron is known for its secretive nature, often found wading through shallow forest streams and pools in search of fish, amphibians, and invertebrates. It nests in trees near water and is generally solitary or found in small groups. The Agami Heron is an important indicator species for the health of tropical forest ecosystems.
