Andean Flamingo Phoenicoparrus andinus breeds in southern Peru, western Bolivia, northern Chile and north-western Argentina, where it lives in the high Andes wetlands. It is the largest flamingo in the Andes, and its bill is set apart by a deeper lower mandible and very long filtering filaments on the upper mandible. The species was described by Philippi in 1854. It belongs to the flamingo family Phoenicopteridae and the order Phoenicopteriformes.
