Andean flamingo

Phoenicoparrus andinus

The Andean flamingo is a striking bird with a pale pink body, contrasting dark pink wings, and a bright yellow bill. It is one of the rarest flamingo species, found in the high Andean plateaus of South America. These birds are highly adapted to their extreme habitat, with specialized feeding behaviors and the ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions. Andean flamingos are social birds, often forming large flocks during the breeding season. Unfortunately, they are facing threats from habitat loss, mining activities, and disturbance at their breeding sites.
