About this tour

Explore Buffalo Pound Lake and the surrounding Qu’Appelle Valley on a private birding day. Lake and marsh viewpoints can produce grebes, ducks, pelicans, gulls, terns and wetland songbirds, while wooded picnic areas and coulees add vireos, catbirds, thrashers and migrants.

The later part of the route extends into grassland and along the lake causeway for prairie birds, bluebirds and additional waterbird views. A spotting scope is available, and participants use their own or rented vehicle.

Private tours run from mid-May through August for parties of up to four. The exact sequence changes with access, weather and current bird activity.
