About this tour
This long-form Chilean birding expedition crosses the country from the far north to Patagonia. It begins around Arica and the Altiplano, continues through the central Andes and Pacific coast, then moves south through the Lake District and Chiloé before finishing in the landscapes of Magallanes and Tierra del Fuego.
The broad route samples desert valleys, high Andean wetlands, Mediterranean-climate woodland, Humboldt Current waters, temperate rainforest, islands, Patagonian steppe and subantarctic forest. That habitat range gives the group time to seek Chilean endemics, regional specialists, seabirds, penguins and high-elevation species without treating any sighting as guaranteed.
