Begin with morning birding at the National Botanical Gardens of Santo Domingo, then drive west toward Sierra de Bahoruco with a lunch stop. Overnight at a seaside hotel near Barahona after visiting a nearby Ashy-faced Owl roost if conditions allow.
Use an early 4x4 drive to Cachote Cloud Forest for morning birding, return toward Barahona for lunch, then continue to Puerto Escondido for afternoon birding at Rabo de Gato Trail and overnight near Duverge.
Start before dawn with 4x4 access toward Zapoten cloud and pine forest, including night birding en route and high-elevation birding through early afternoon. Return to Duverge for rest, then add late afternoon and night birding near Puerto Escondido.
Bird Loma Charco Azul in Puerto Escondido, visit Lake Enriquillo National Park for Hispaniolan Palm Crow, then return by road to Santo Domingo for the final overnight.
Drive northeast toward Los Limones outside Los Haitises National Park and bird nearby forest for Ridgway's Hawk and other species. After lunch, return to Santo Domingo.
