Private Half-Day Southern Yucatan Jungle Birding Tour
A private morning from Merida into the more humid forests of southern Yucatan, with an easy two-to-three-kilometre birding walk.
About this tour
Leave Merida before dawn for the more humid forest south of the city. After parking at the trailhead, the group birds slowly along an easy two-to-three-kilometre route through tropical woodland.
The habitat offers a different mix from the drier northern peninsula. Motmots, trogons, woodpeckers, woodcreepers, parrots, flycatchers, becards, jays, orioles, tanagers and hummingbirds are all possible.
Private SUV pickup is planned for 05:00, with return to the accommodation around 11:00. The pace is easy, although tropical heat and insects are possible.
