Small-Group Solvær Archipelago Bird Safari by Boat
A two-to-three-hour small-group boat safari among the Solvær archipelago’s islets, focused on Eurasian Eagle-Owl, White-tailed Eagle and coastal birds.
About this tour
Explore the channels and small islands of the Solvær archipelago on a quiet bird safari by open boat. The trip is operated by Solværøyan Birds & Beds, based at Sleneset, and keeps groups to no more than four guests so that wildlife observation can remain calm and respectful.
The route searches the islands for Eurasian Eagle-Owl and scans the sea and skerries for White-tailed Eagle and other coastal birds. Owl sightings can never be guaranteed, but the local chance is considered high and finding the species is a central aim of the outing. White-tailed Eagles are seen more regularly and may approach closely to dive for fish provided during the safari.
Golden Eagle, Arctic Skua, Arctic Tern, Ruddy Turnstone, Merlin and other seabirds may also be encountered. Atlantic Puffin and Razorbill occur only occasionally, so they are treated as bonus possibilities rather than expected sightings. Trips last about two to three hours, and the route follows current bird activity and conditions.
