Grey Heron

Ardea cinerea

The Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) is a large, elegant wading bird found in a variety of wetland habitats across Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa. With its long legs, neck, and dagger-like bill, the Grey Heron is a skilled hunter, feeding on fish, amphibians, and small mammals. It is known for its distinctive slow, graceful flight and its ability to stand motionless for long periods while waiting for prey. This species is often solitary, although they may gather in large groups during the breeding season. The Grey Heron is a common and widespread species, but it faces threats from habitat loss and disturbance.
