About this tour

Pair birding in northern Burgos with local gastronomy during a two-night stay at Posada Molino del Canto. Guided routes cover the Alto Ebro and Rudron canyons, plateaux, woodland, pasture and the Ebro Reservoir.

Meals feature seasonal and regional products, with selected wines accompanying the programme. Birding possibilities range from vultures and eagles to woodland birds, larks, shrikes and waterbirds.

Day 1
Arrival and northern Burgos dinner

Begin with a homemade dinner highlighting seasonal produce, northern cheeses and other regional ingredients, accompanied by selected wine.

Shared double or twin room Riverside rural accommodation in the Valle de Zamanzas, used as the base for the programme.
Day 2
Canyons and plateaux
Hoces del Alto Ebro y Rudron Natural Park
Short walks and vehicle-based birding

After breakfast, explore limestone canyons, plateaux and villages for vultures, eagles, shrikes, finches, buntings and larks. A picnic and regional food and wine elements continue the gastronomic theme before dinner at the inn.

Forests and waterbirds
Ebro Reservoir Waterbird Reserve

Search northern forests and pasture for woodland birds, then continue to the Ebro Reservoir for waterbirds. The programme ends after the picnic and final regional pairing.
