Northern Burgos Birding Tour - 5 Days
Five-day small-group birding stay exploring the Alto Ebro canyons, northern forests, the Ebro Reservoir and Burgos cereal plains.
About this tour
Explore northern Burgos with MCBirding from a riverside base in the Valle de Zamanzas. Three guided birding days connect limestone canyons and plateaux, oak and beech woodland, pasture, the Ebro Reservoir and the open cereal plains of central Burgos.
The route is designed for a small group and uses a 4x4 for the guided outings. Likely bird groups include vultures, eagles, larks, shrikes, buntings, woodland birds and waterbirds, while all sightings remain dependent on season and conditions.

Itinerary ▼
Arrive independently at the riverside inn and settle in before a homemade dinner.
After breakfast, explore limestone outcrops, canyons, plateaux and small villages by 4x4. The route may produce vultures, Egyptian Vulture, Short-toed Snake-Eagle, Golden Eagle, Alpine Swift, shrikes, finches, buntings and larks. Continue birding after a picnic before returning to the inn.
Visit plateaux, pasture and oak and beech woodland for larks, shrikes, harriers, tits, woodpeckers, goshawks and treecreepers, then continue to the Ebro Reservoir for herons, ducks, cormorants, waders and storks.
Travel southwest into open cereal country to search for steppe and farmland birds such as Great Bustard, kestrels, larks and other open-country species. A picnic is included on the route.
