Give a full day to the waterways around Mahmudia on Bunica Maria’s guided birdwatching excursion. About six hours aboard a passenger boat allows a longer exploration than the half-day option, followed by a late meal of traditional fish dishes at the guesthouse.
The programme takes in the Carasuhat restoration area and the Delta’s channels and lakes. Litcov, Gorgova, Porcoava, Isac and Uzlina are among the waterways described for this outing. Open water, reeds and shallows provide different places to look for wetland birds.
Your English-speaking guide watches for pelicans, White-tailed Eagles, kingfishers, ibises and several heron species. Shallow water can bring avocets, stilts and other waders into view. Binoculars are supplied, and sightings depend on the date and conditions.

Day 1
A day on the Delta waters
Set out by boat for a roughly six-hour excursion, combining Carasuhat with channels and lakes in the surrounding Delta. Look along reed edges for herons and kingfishers and across open water for pelicans and eagles, while the restored wetland adds opportunities for waders.
