California Gull

Larus californicus

The California Gull is a medium-sized gull found along the western coast of North America. It has a white head, body, and tail, with gray wings and back. During the breeding season, its bill and legs turn bright red. These gulls are known for their distinctive call and are often found near bodies of water, including coastal areas, lakes, and rivers. They are opportunistic feeders, consuming a varied diet that includes fish, insects, and scavenged food. California Gulls are known for their nesting colonies, often found on islands or remote shorelines. They are adaptable and can be found in urban areas as well. This species is not currently considered at risk and is classified as Least Concern by the IUCN.
