About this tour

Experience Saskatchewan in mid-summer on an eight-day route that combines major waterbird sites, open prairie, river-valley woodland and the Great Sand Hills. The programme begins with Last Mountain Lake Bird Sanctuary, then explores habitats around Saskatoon before travelling west through sand hills and grassland.

Planned areas include Forestry Farm Park, the South Saskatchewan River, Great Sand Hills, Saskatchewan Landing, Blackstrap Lake, Chief Whitecap Park and local shorebird wetlands. Access, weather and current bird activity may alter individual stops.

The current programme runs from August 3 to 10, 2027. The starting rate applies to a party of up to three that provides a non-smoking vehicle and transports the guide from Saskatoon and back; meals, accommodation and park entry fees are arranged separately.

Day 1
Eight-day mid-summer Saskatchewan circuit

Start at Last Mountain Lake Bird Sanctuary, then visit Saskatoon parks and birding sites along the South Saskatchewan River. Travel west through the Great Sand Hills and the river valley near Leader before returning via Saskatchewan Landing. The final days combine Saskatoon riverbank and woodland parks, Blackstrap Lake, Chief Whitecap Park, shorebird wetlands and Donna Birkmaier Park.
