Tufted Duck

Aythya fuligula

The Tufted Duck is a medium-sized diving duck found in freshwater lakes, ponds, and rivers across Europe and Asia. Males have striking black and white plumage with a distinct tuft at the back of the head, while females are brown with a smaller tuft. These ducks are skilled divers and feed on aquatic plants, invertebrates, and small fish. They are known for their distinctive calls and are often seen in large flocks during the winter months. Tufted Ducks are adaptable and can be found in a variety of wetland habitats, from urban parks to remote marshes.
