Private 19-Day Kashmir and Ladakh Birding Expedition
A 19-day private journey from Kashmir's forests and wetlands to Ladakh's high passes, steppe and lakes for Himalayan and Tibetan birds and wildlife.
About this tour
Begin in Kashmir's wooded hills, conifer valleys and wetlands before crossing the Himalaya into Ladakh on this private 19-day expedition. Field days around Srinagar, Sinthan Top, Yousmarg, Hokersar and Sonmarg focus on Kashmir Flycatcher, Kashmir Nuthatch, mountain finches, Ibisbill and other regional specialists.
After the overland journey to Leh and a dedicated acclimatization day, the route continues through Nubra Valley, Wari La and Pangong Tso. High passes, river corridors, alpine slopes and lakeshore habitats support snowcocks, snowfinches, rubythroats and White-browed Tit-Warbler.
Hanle and Tso Kar form the final field bases for Black-necked Crane, Tibetan Lark, Ground Tit, Tibetan Sandgrouse and steppe wildlife including Kiang. Altitude reaches above 5,000 metres on some passes, so flexibility, gradual acclimatization and attention to guide instructions are essential.
