About this tour
Begin near Tokyo with a private airport transfer and a full guided day across two contrasting urban-coastal birding sites. Sanbanze’s tidal shore can hold cormorants, coots and migrant waders, while Mizumoto Park adds woodland, ponds and resident city birds before the overnight ferry leaves for the Izu Islands.
Miyake Island is the centrepiece of the journey. A professional birding guide uses a full day and a second morning to explore its forest, coast and quieter roads for island and ocean species. The return ferry also creates a useful seawatching window before the final night in Tokyo.

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Tokyo
Meet the driver after arrival at Narita or Haneda Airport and transfer privately to the first hotel. The rest of the day is unstructured.
Day 2
Sanbanze and Mizumoto Park
Bird the Sanbanze coast with the specialist guide, then continue to Mizumoto Park for pond and woodland species. In the evening, board the overnight ferry from Takeshiba to Miyake Island.
Day 3
Full-day Miyake Island birding
Explore the island’s forest, coast and quieter roads with the birding guide. The day is planned around local activity, with island birds and passing seabirds among the possibilities.
Day 4
Miyake birding and return ferry
Use the morning for a second guided circuit on Miyake, then sail back to Tokyo while watching for seabirds from the ferry. Transfer to the Tokyo hotel after arrival.
Day 5
Departure from Tokyo
After breakfast, enjoy free time before the included airport transfer arranged around the confirmed departure flight.
