About this tour
Pipeline Road enters the lowland rainforest of Soberania National Park just west of Gamboa. Its narrow gravel-and-dirt corridor passes beneath a largely continuous canopy, creating close viewing opportunities along forest edge and interior habitat without requiring a demanding trek.
The outing can be arranged as an approximately six-hour morning or an eight-hour day. The guide searches Pipeline Road and surrounding habitat for antbirds, cuckoos, cotingas, jacamars, raptors and other rainforest species, adjusting the pace to current activity and the group’s interests. Quiet conditions and the road’s restricted width often make it possible to watch birds at short range.
Pickup and drop-off are included for regular areas of Panama City and hotels around Gamboa; other locations may carry an additional transfer charge. Rain gear, insect repellent, sun protection and neutral-coloured clothing are useful. All named species are search priorities rather than guarantees.
