Lima Coast Birding: Pantanos de Villa and Pucusana - Half Day
A coastal birding morning linking the lagoons of Pantanos de Villa with a short boat trip from Pucusana to Chuncho Island. Wetland birds, Pacific seabirds, Surf Cinclodes and Humboldt Penguin all feature in the stated search.
About this tour
Use a free morning in Lima to compare two different coastal habitats. Pantanos de Villa provides lagoons, reedbeds and seasonal migrant activity, while Pucusana adds a fishing-port setting and access by small local boat to the birds around Chuncho Island.
Wetland possibilities include grebes, ducks, ibis, rushbirds and Many-colored Rush Tyrant. Offshore targets include Inca Tern, Humboldt Penguin, Surf Cinclodes, Blue-footed and Peruvian Boobies, Red-legged Cormorant and Peruvian Pelican.
The route involves short walks and a brief boat section and is graded easy to moderate. Sea conditions, season and wild bird movement influence the final observations.
