A compact five-day Białowieża and Biebrza tour for breeding woodpeckers, flycatchers, warblers, Great Snipe and wildlife photography.
About this tour
This compact five-day tour combines Białowieża Forest and Biebrza Marshes during the late breeding season. It follows a similar route to the longer May tour while concentrating the strongest birding locations into fewer days.
Birding and photography highlights
Białowieża offers woodpeckers, Pygmy Owl, Collared and Red-breasted Flycatchers, Barred, Icterine and River Warblers, Great Snipe, Corn Crake and Thrush Nightingale. Early June often coincides with adults feeding young, particularly Pygmy Owl and Three-toed Woodpecker, making this departure especially appealing to photographers.
At Biebrza the targets include Aquatic and Savi’s Warblers, Bluethroat, Tawny Pipit, Ortolan Bunting, Red-necked Grebe and Little and Corn Crakes. European Bison, Elk and Beaver are the principal mammal targets, with an evening Beaver boat trip included.
Outline itinerary
- Day 1: Warsaw pick-up by 11:00, transfer to Białowieża and evening forest exploration.
- Days 2–3: Two full days exploring Białowieża Forest.
- Day 4: Morning forest session, transfer toward Biebrza with a stop at Dojlidy or Knyszyn fishponds, then evening marsh exploration.
- Day 5: Morning in Biebrza and return to Warsaw at approximately 14:00.
